Delivering enterprise grade IT without the corporate price tag
Oblix Capital provides short-term finance for the UK residential and commercial property markets. The company planned to move from a serviced office environment to a new headquarters — and so required its own IT capabilities to support a dynamic and rapidly-growing business.
The new IT infrastructure needed building from scratch, a completely new, flexible, and scalable IT system and it had to be up and running quickly. The solution required an exceptional security posture since the company is operating in the financial sector.
The Challenge
Oblix Capital didn’t employ any IT staff, nor were they planning to. CAE therefore proposed a virtual IT department with Microsoft’s Azure cloud-based technology at the heart of a new, state-of-the-art infrastructure.
A virtual model with the same levels of provision as an in-house team
CAE managed the project from design to deployment and launch. Cloud managed LAN and WLAN using Cisco Meraki was installed and this is supported by CAE. Additionally, CAE provides an ongoing managed service for all IT applications,
including Microsoft Office 365. Day to day support consists of access to a user service desk, on site visits and remote monitoring. The IT department maybe virtual, but Oblix still enjoys the same levels of provision as an in-house team.
The Outcome
CAE worked closely with Oblix to deliver a complete and adaptable enterprise-grade IT infrastructure. It was delivered without the corporate price tag or the need to employ any IT staff. Staff can work anywhere, anytime and on any device. Rigorous security requirements in the financial services are essential and as such the solution is highly secure and robust. The flexible pay-as-you-go service can extend rapidly to support business expansion which suits Oblix’s financial model perfectly.
