Sustainable technology in Education

Brighter Futures for UK Schools and Colleges, in association with HP.

Last year at CAE, we launched our sustainability strategy, CARE. Inspired by our purpose - To transform people'sDevelop-Sustainability-Icon-bordered experiences and lives, through technology - our contributions and sustainability efforts are central to our purposeful growth agenda.

We have been working on different ways to support our customers with their sustainability goals, from recycling old hardware to powering down their network when not in use.

More recently, we are pleased to share that we are now part of the Brighter Futures association, empowering schools and colleges across the UK, to maximise their budgets, align with mandated sustainability legislation, recycling their old devices (receiving up to £200 per device through Brighter Futures) and re-investing in new HP educational devices.

With budgets and fundings becoming increasingly tighter, through Brighter Futures, schools and colleges also have the opportunity to leverage compliant leasing for new devices, enabling them to trade in old devices providing they hold title to the legacy devices.

Who are Brighter Futures?

Brighter Futures in association with HP, provide schools and colleges a cost-effective and sustainable avenue to recycle their old devices. Collaborating with 50 of the largest education-focused IT sales, support, and service organisations in the UK, they aim to provide a better student learning experience through funding, innovative technology solutions and environmental support.

With over 22,000 devices reused or recycled in 2023 through the programme, it provides primary, secondary and further education settings with a simple and effective route to recycle and resource old and new devices. With the addition of up to £200 per device being paid directly to the school or college, education settings are able to invest in new technology such as laptops, for the students and teachers.

Partnering with Brighter Futures enables CAE to further support schools and colleges, by providing our customers the opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint through recycling old devices, increase budgets for re-investment and align with their sustainability goals.
